Good song.

I don't get why people have had a problem with this. I sounds good to me, but then again, I'm probably more open to listening to different kinds of music. I'm also one to encourage people to keep trying. If you yourself aren't happy with it, that's one thing, but critics can only be just that, critics. They don't make or break you, but those who offer advice and enthusiasm will help you best along your way.

Now that I've said that, I do think this song however sounds like something you would hear on an old SNES or Genesis game. Maybe on a side scrolling beat 'em up type of game, like Final Fight, or Streets of Rage. Just keep working at it, and try to improve a little bit with each song. It'll show in your later songs. Keep it up.

I concur

SqueezyLemon was right that it's a bit repetitive, but a lot of my songs are too. I can't say anything bad about it, just needs to be mixed up a little. That part got to be difficult for me to overcome, but I think my last few songs remedied that, other than my hip-hop tracks. Good Job.

8-bit music

It sounds like a song that would fit great in an 8-Bit video game, like either for the old nintendo, or sega master system. Either way, you did good on it. What program and synthesizer did you use?

I got fruity loops 9, its not the best software but... Hey, i got to work with what i got.

This makes me think of...

The beginning of it makes me think about X-Men 2: Clone Wars for the Genesis. It reminds me of the bog section of that game. You did a great job, I liked it from beginning to end. You may want to correct the spelling in the title of the song though. Or was it that the name was too long so you omitted letters?

B. Kuwanger

Man, this sounds like a Maverick Dance Remix. DDR, MMX Edition. It's really good though, a lot better than being overly redone like Capcom did with the re-release on the PSP. Kudos to you.

Carnival Fun for Sonic

I always had this thing about how this song sounded like a twisted up demented ride that could kill you, which is pretty much what the stage was. I hated that area in Sonic 3, it was the only one, that I took long getting through. I even got through Ice Cap faster than there.

DrMackFoxx responds:

A twisted demented ride that could kill you? I think that just about sums up Carnival Night Zone alright! :laughs: I really hate that place. Still, nice to hear I managed to put a good spin on the BGM from that stage. :) Thanks a lot for the excellent review! 'Tis greatly appreciated!

How did I miss this one?

The song to the first zone of Sonic 2. I don't know how I missed this beauty, but I'm glad I came across it. This is a really good reproduction of the song. Everything is on point, they really should have used a piano back then to enhance their song. Too bad for them, and you get to be the one credited for it.

DrMackFoxx responds:

You really think so? Thank you very much! :) Granted, the sound system on the Sega Genesis was rather primitive, especially compared to its competitor, the SNES. Although the Sega CD did greatly expand the Genesis' MIDI instrument library considerably, the add-on was very expensive and, by far, most people with a Genesis never bought one.

At any rate, thank you so much for yet another thorough and excellent review! They are always greatly appreciated. :) I'll have to cook up some more new tunes before long.

Unsure and Unsure, same name, completely different

When I first read your review I thought you were comparing two of my songs that had similar names, but I went back and reread it today, and realized that you meant your song and not mine, to which I misread and responded back to your review, probably in the dumbest manner I ever have. that being said, I apologize for that stupidity on my part, but I really like this loop. It almost sounds like a character select screen for like an RPG. Good Job.

kjhsdgf responds:

lol, it's all good in the hood
and thanks homes

Man, you know what this makes me think of?

There are two intro stages from the old SNES games that this song would definitely have fit, the intro stages from Megaman X2 and X3. You remember those stages right? Now I dare you to play those games and have this song playing on those stages. It matches more the X2 stage than X3, but it could work. I think a better for it to fit on X3 would have been the water stage with Toxic Seahorse. The stage music is kinda similar to this, thus my thought on it fitting with the stage. Have you noticed my profile pic though? It's not quite Zero, but hey, he looks like him. They need to make a freaking two player Megaman X game and this should be the song for the intro stage. And they should include my character, so Axl isn't the only young one.

DrMackFoxx responds:

Ah, yes! Megaman X2 and X3 were great games and they had a lot of excellent tunes, too! It's pretty hard to make something that measures up to classic songs like those, but good to know I'm on the right track. :) Thank you very, very much for another excellent and thorough review. I greatly appreciate it!

Awesome Job.

This tune is pretty much dead on with your description. I kinda think of a really hi tech Castlevania type setting. I know a futuristic Castlevania has been done, but not with a really strong technological base, and this song would be perfect for that. The bass and piano to battle a bit, but not enough to weaken the quality of the song.

DrMackFoxx responds:

Cool! I'm planning on doing a few more tracks based on this song, such as an enemy battle theme and victory fanfare, boss battle and a darker theme for being deep in the high-tech ruins. We'll see what happens.

Thank you very much for another great and thorough review! They are always greatly appreciated. :)

I'm working on a multitude of different things, but you'll mostly find me on Youtube under the channel name "The Game Idea Guy". I share my video game ideas and thoughts on a regular basis.
